Holy Fear

When Peter, James and John were on the mountain with Jesus as he was transfigured, they were terrified. They had a terrifying experience of the fear of the Lord. In this message John Alley discusses if this is good and if so what part this might play in our lives. After covering this point, he shows briefly the hugeness of promise for those who fear the Lord and the comprehensiveness of what the Bible has to say about that.

A Glimpse Into Sonship

This message by Philip Alley takes a look through the Scriptures to discover what it really means to be a son to a father. Sonship, says Philip, changes the way we live. And just as we must submit to God in order to be saved, so we should also submit our lives to another -- by serving that other and by giving up our own lives and agendas, In this way, says Philip, we will grow up into maturity. Philip also refers to the way in which Isaac opened up the wells of his fathers -- just as we should attend to the business of our spiritual fathers.

Take Initiative do Something

Many believers sit around waiting for a specific word from God as to how to serve Him. They think that some magical moment or special call must occur before they can serve. The Bible however is full of examples of people who took initiative without a specific word from God. One of these was King David who did all kinds of exploits (killing Goliath, trying to build the Temple) without being told. He was a man after God's heart. In this sermon David encourages believers to have a go for God, whilst at the same time remaining in submission to authority and listening if God does happen to give different directions, which also happened to King David regarding the Temple building. The Bible is already outlined telling us to do a variety of things with the gospel and loving others. The specifics are often left to our desire and imagination. So take initiative and do something.
