The Lord Watches Over You

Today's message comes in two parts. John Alley starts out by sharing from God's promise that "he will not let your foot slip." He talks of God's protection and watch over those who are His. But for those who are not His, another verse is also promised, "their foot shall surely slip." This message is an encouragement to those in Christ especially going into a new year with new opportunities. The second part by David Alley discusses how we can glorify God with out lives. When we think of people like Mother Theresa it causes us to see how good God is, and in that same way she has glorified God with her life. How do our lives bring glory to God?

The Truth about Ruth

There is so much good that God is wanting to do for us, and it is just waiting for us to be in the right place. To be more specific, God is waiting for our heart to be in the right place. The story of Ruth is a great illustration of this, and this message by David Alley will open your eyes to see just how much will start to move when we follow the example of Ruth. Sadly many Christians are focused on "what is in it for me" - and they often tend to have the wrong focus and motivation. We need to open our eyes to see who God has put around us, and open our hearts to them, just like Ruth did.

Covenant Blessing 4 - The Place of Obedience

Today’s message from John Alley continues the series on Covenant blessing. The emphasis for today falls on the importance of obedience, as well as the powerful way that walking in covenant with God causes blessing to flow, not only for the believer who walks in this way but also on their children. John brings forth many Scripture passages which all point out that God requires obedience of His children. John uses the story of King David and his son King Solomon and his grandson King Rehoboam to illustrate how the way that the father walks in covenant with God profoundly affects the lives of his children. While the Old Covenant was strict and stringent, however, under the New Covenant we have much help from the Lord to walk in the ways of God. Obedience is still required, but we are given grace and the empowering of the Holy Spirit to change our hearts so that it is our desire to obey God.

Covenant Blessing 2 - Called, Chosen & Faithful

John Alley commences the second part of his series on Covenant Blessing with a brief overview of the previous week’s message, before examining a passage from Leviticus 26 with regard to the 18 promises therein for those who believe and obey God. This inspiring passage lays out four things that God has done and continues to do, as well as four conditions to be observed by those who would follow and believe. The initial obedience, says John, is to believe in Christ, and to love one another. Scripture tells us that we are meant to be called, chosen and faithful as people of God. The word “chosen”, says John, has to do with the Covenant that we are part of if we believe in Christ. This message, rich with Scripture content, many principles that we are meant to incorporate in our lives – compassion, kindness, humility, patience and forgiveness amongst them. In the world there are 3 types of people – Jew, Gentile and those in Christ. There is no Jew or gentile in Christ, says John. God is building a house, from Abraham onwards. While the Old Testament refers to the Jews as God’s chosen people, the New Testament refers to all believers as God’s chosen people.

Things to Walk In

John Alley speaks today on a number of subjects, each of which involves a value that needs to be in our lives so that we walk in those things today, right now. The first is that we need to live lives where we declare the truth in every situation and then proclaim what will happen. John emphasises that we must seek God in order to obtain His promises before turning to the need to be vitally involved in the work of Christ in the earth – our heavenly reward depends on it! We also need to be committed to tithing and to giving as well as being active in sharing our faith. John brings his message to a close by speaking of the lives of Levi and Simeon in the book of Genesis. Both brothers were under s curse, and yet Levi’s stand for the Lord at a later date turned the curse around so that Levi was blessed. Simeon, on the other hand, did not respond to the Lord in the same way and the outcome of his life was very mixed. John reminds the listener that when we take a stand for the Lord, He turns all things around for our good, to bless us.
