Song of Solomon

Hunger For God

David Alley begins his message by reading a passage from the Song of Solomon which speaks of new life and new beginnings and then asks, “Are we hungry for God or has our Christianity become dull and repetitive?” When a person is hungry for something, says David, then they take a keen interest in that particular thing. And yet, we too easily become satisfied with out walk with God and fail to seek more of Him. And yet there is always more of the infinite God – more than we can ever realise. So if we are not hungering and seeking for more of God, how do we become hungry? David goes on to speak of prayer and fasting as valuable ways to draw nearer to God and to obtain more of that which He longs to give.

The Coming Of Spring

On this morning of reflection on the way that God has led us in the past as well and into the future, John Alley brings a brief but encouraging word to the people of God regarding the way that God leads and guides and refreshes His people. Beginning with Exodus 15: 13 and 17, John speaks of God taking us to His dwelling, His holy mountain. Taking the theme of past dealings of God, John encourages the listener that there is grace to renew our devotional lives with Christ, and the key to that is confession of sin. John concludes the message with a reading from Song of Solomon where the picture is of Christ calling the believer to come away with Him and to renew our relationship and intimacy with Him.
