Jesus the Ark of Your Salvation

Jesus the Ark of Your Salvation

The story of Noah’s ark in Genesis 6-9 is a story where God rescues people from a wicked world, and recreates the world to make it new again.  The only people who survived were those who boarded the vessel of salvation, Noah’s ark.

There is an amazing parallel between Noah’s ark and our own salvation.  We are caught in a world of wickedness, it is our sinful nature that has trapped us and we are unable to escape.  But there is once again a vessel of salvation, this time Jesus is the ark.

Many of the ancient church fathers like Origen and Augustine noticed the parallel, but they stated that the ark was the Church, God’s plan on Earth to help people escape.  In one sense they are right, but in another sense the Church, without Christ is of little help.  The Church is only anything at all because of the Lord, and it is the Lord who saves.

You can enter the Church by going to services on Sundays, and singing and praying through the week, but still not find salvation.  It is by entering into Christ that you are saved.

So enter into the ark of your salvation, Jesus Christ, and find rest for your souls.
