Promoted to Glory

Promoted to Glory

Maxwell Clanfield was my grandfather. He went to be with the Lord a few weeks ago.

After finding Christ at a young age, and also marrying young, both Max and Noreen dedicated their entire lives to serving Jesus. They served in both Australia and Papua New Guinea, and even in their older years never stopped participation in prayer and service to the Lord at their Salvation Army church in North Lakes, New South Wales.

Max was a minister in the Salvation Army, which has always used the theme of the army/military to describe its service to God. For example, believers are soldiers. Pastors are officers, and the local church is a corp, and so it goes. So when a Salvation army believer goes to be with the Lord, like a good soldier, they are ‘promoted’ to Glory.

Being promoted is an honour, it means you have been recognised and lifted up by those higher than you. It means your work has been recognised.

So its not just for those in the Salvation Army. Whenever any believer who loves Christ, and has served with a whole heart, goes to be with the Lord…. it is indeed a time of promotion.

‘Well done, good and faithful servant.’ Matthew 25:21.
