30 Jul Called to Be a Priest
We know that some people are called into the ministry.
If you just agreed with that statement, then sadly you are wrong, because biblically everyone who is a believer is in fact already in the ministry and is a priest.
It is the some who are called into full-time ministry, but everyone who loves Christ is in the ministry in the midst of their lives, right where they are in their job, their school and their family. Consider these verses:
‘You are living stones, being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God.‘ 1 Peter 2:5
‘But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.’ 1 Peter 2:9
And consider it from the point of view of those who are in full-time ministry.
‘Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up.’ Ephesians 4:11-12
The Lord calls some into full-time ministry and they have the task of helping everyone else to do the works of Christ. Everyone is a priest where they are… that means you.
Priests represent people to God…. that is praying.
Priests represent God to people…. that is witnessing.
Priests make sacrifices…. praise, worship and giving.
And we all do all of those things.
YOU are a priest.
